Video to Film

Movielab is now offering Video to Film service. This service is done using an proprietary process . The system can support 16mm or 35mm. A film negative (Kodak Duplicate Negative Estar) is made along with a b&w optical sound track.

Requirements for video:

SD video can be NTSC or PAL> The video must have originated in that format. (ie no standards conversions; if NTSC is film originated then you are responsible for removing pull down to create 24p)

HD video can be 1080i60/59.94 1080p24/23.98 720p 24/23.98 720p60/59.94

For formats which are not 24/23.98 there is not a 1:1 relationship between video and film frames. The film is exposed using our system to create a pleasing print for the eye.

Video should be color corrected and balanced through out the entire program. Our system applies a 3D LUT to the video and assumes normal levels and balanced colors.

Video can be submitted on D-Beta, BetaSp , miniDV, HDCam/HDCamSR, HDV tape (1080i only) or on hard drive as any Quicktime supported file format.

Sample silent prints can be made of your video for $75
